So we are going on the big road trip and I need to convert all my legally obtained videos to a video format that the Car DVD player will accept.
After messing around I finally figured out a format that the video player accepts and a bash script which runs against all the files in the current directory.
The other commands worked but were to slow on my old laptop (29 FPS transcoding).
This currently runs at 130 FPS and I run two batches to fully max out my CPU.
#!/bin/bash IFS=$'\n' for file in *.mp4; do ffmpeg -i $file -sn -c:a libmp3lame -c:v libxvid -vtag DIVX -vf scale=640:480 -aspect 4:3 -vb 1500k /path/to/sdcard/$file.avi done
